Never a perfectly straight line.

I’ve been around the church for as long as I can remember. I became a believer as a child, but my faith has never been a perfectly straight line. College brought a season of wrestling, questioning, and learning to own what I believed for myself. Looking back, those questions became an important part of the journey that shaped the way I approach Scripture, theology, and faith today.

My background crosses several Christian traditions. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church, attended a Wesleyan high school, earned a degree in Religious Studies from Auburn University, and later received my Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary, a Presbyterian seminary in St. Louis. That journey exposed me to different expressions of the Christian faith and taught me the value of studying Scripture carefully, listening to voices from across the Christian tradition, and distinguishing between what the Bible clearly teaches and those places where faithful Christians may come to different conclusions.

Today, I serve as pastor of Conifer Community Church, a non-denominational mountain church in Conifer, Colorado. I love teaching Scripture and helping people move beyond simply knowing what the Bible says to understanding it, wrestling honestly with it, and discovering how it shapes everyday life.

That same passion is behind WayPoint Resources. I created WayPoint as a place for thoughtful biblical study, theological reflection, honest questions, and practical discipleship—a resource for people who want to engage Scripture deeply, think faithfully, reflect honestly, and live what they are learning.

Outside of ministry, I’m a husband, dad, musician, reader, traveler, and lover of mountain life. My wife, Melanie, and I have two kids, Megan and Tyler. Some of my favorite moments involve playing music, hiking in the mountains, taking a long road trip, reading and reflecting, spending time with friends, or sitting around the fire pit with my family at the end of the day.

I’m originally from Alabama, grew up largely in the Midwest, and now call the mountains of Colorado home. Through all of those places and seasons, I’ve become increasingly convinced that following Jesus is a lifelong journey of learning who God is, discovering who we are in light of him, and faithfully taking the next step.

That is what WayPoint Resources is about: helping people find their bearings in Scripture and take the next faithful step.
